Let's Get Ready Garland! Summer heat is a relentless challenge in our area and the Office of Emergency Management wants you to be prepared. You and your family can stay safe by knowing how to prevent heat-related illnesses and what to do when you are facing extreme heat.
Summer high temperatures in North Texas along with high humidity, can quickly cause heat-related illnesses which range in severity from mild heat cramps and heat exhaustion to potentially life-threatening heatstroke. It is important to consider those who are at greater risk from extreme heat: children, elderly and those with underlying health conditions including overweight individuals
