WHAT DOES A WATER METER LOOK LIKE & READING A WATER METER
The City of Garland uses several makes and models of water meters to measure and accurately account for the water used by the city. All have a meter register that looks very much like the odometer in your car, and have six or seven digits to be read. These meter readings are read in tens, hundreds or thousands of gallons. The billing system is programmed to take these meter readings and calculate the correct water usage in thousands of gallons. When reading your meter, it is important to include any “fixed zeros” to the right of the movable numbers. The meter reading in the example below is 105,310 gallons.
